November 29th - December 3rd, 2017 | Pioneer Courthouse Square | Portland, Oregon

More than 50 potent winter ales are featured at this year's event, all of which are created specifically to bring warmth and cheer to the holiday season. These aren't beers you'll find in the supermarket - our brewers have put together special recipes just for the Holiday Ale Festival.

Limited Release Beers

2017 Limited Release Beers

The Limited Release Beers are special vintage beers for which there is a very limited supply. These beers typically require additional tickets for a taster, with a select few also offered as full glass pours of varying ticket cost. To help ensure as many people as possible get a fair chance of trying at least one of these beers, we stagger their tapping throughout each day of the fest (Wednesday through Friday only).

TBD - To Be Determined • MPLT - More Pouring Later Today • GTHT - Gone Today, Here Tomorrow • OUT - Sold Out

All Limited Release Beers are double tickets unless noted (onsite); some are tasters only. Beers are subject to change. "Meet the Brewer" Beers will be announced the evening before each day of the event. All other limited release beers will be announced as "pop-up" tappings in real-time both here and on our social media feeds.

    Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 @ 11:00 AM

NOTE: While we expect to tap these at the specified time, there may be a delay as these will tap once the previous limited release beer at the specified location runs out.

    Russian Imperial Stout (2009)

    Russian Imperial StoutABV: 10.5%
So thick, rich and, well, sinful, you might worry that you'll be doomed to the fiery pits just for thinking about a sip. Rest assured, however, that even though this seemingly pernicious brew is indeed as black as sin, it's guaranteed that no actual sin was committed in making it...you'll have to add that on your own. This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with.

    Agrestic Ale (2016)

    Double Barrel Ale BlendABV: 6.6%
Fittingly, Agrestic Ale begins its journey as DBA; the foundational beer first offered when Firestone Walker opened its doors in 1996. Oak barrels along with FW's proprietary collection of microflora act like a chrysalis process, transforming DBA into Agrestic Ale over the course of several months. The result is a synergistic blend of beer matured in French and American oak with signature flavors and aromas: wood-derived toast, lemon pith, and rosewood swirl on the nose and palate, followed by an amazing harmony of vanilla, coconut and Earl Grey tea. Dark cherries, caramel malt and spice round out its complexity and drinkability. The finish is crisp with a mouthwatering acidity and chewy tannins.

This beer begins its life as a Flanders Red style beer aged 24 months in a 2200 gallon French oak foeder. Sour Montmorency cherries are added and allowed a secondary fermentation. Stickee Monkey (2016)

    Barrel-Aged Central Coast QuadABV: 11.6%
Brewed with Belgian candi sugar and aged in a selection of fine bourbon barrels, this is a nod to the Central Coast's native Sticky Monkey flower, as well as a shout-out to the Belgian monks who pioneered the Quad style. It has been said that the only constant is change and the same is true for barrel-aged beers. Cut from a similar recipe, this barrel-aged Quad evolves and shows a different face each year; a result of time spent aging in the barrel. Turbinado brown sugar from Mexico adds wonderful molasses flavors that are reminiscent of Belgian candi sugar. It has a full body and lush texture with barrel expression all over; toasted oak, coconut, leather and rich cigar tobacco.

Like the classic version, this Odd Year edition was brewed in the authentic, historical style of an imperial Russian stout, but with the addition of several hundred pounds of espresso beans from our friends at Ryan Bros. Coffee. Layers of flavor and complexity augment an already enigmatic brew, leaving this darkly delicious libation positively brimming with deep, rich espresso flavors that meld beautifully with the roasty bitterness of the dark malts.

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is dark, roasty and complex. After some time in your beer cellar, the heat of the booze fades into the background and the port notes and roastiness take over. World Wide goes great with (or as!) dessert.
